[~djp], The discussion of YARN-445 has involved over time. The current approach
doesn't involve AM. The signal request goes through client -> RM -> NM as in
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12633748/YARN-445-signal-container-via-rm.patch.
So kill container does look like one of the use cases.
Besides the ability to signal container, we also have use cases that need to
send special command to JVM to capture perf data. That is the discussion we
need to continue to have in the first sub-task YARN-1897.
