MKMVA PRESS STATEMENT ON MAMELODI 10 REBURIAL The families of the MAMELODI 10, MKMVA and the ANC will be having a reburial of the Mamelodi 10, which was lost their lives in pursuit of the struggle to liberate the people of South Africa.
The Mamelodi 10 was a group of youth township activists who were leaving the country to enlist in uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK). They were misled by an askari Constable Joe Mamasela (posing as an MK agent) who lured them to their gruesome death. They were killed with a limpet mine after being injected with a chemical; their bodies were badly burnt beyond recognition. The TRC Fund, which was established for reparations, has over the years not being adequately and appropriately used to support their intended beneficiaries. As a result MKMVA had to come to terms in to find sponsors to ensure that these fallen heroes are given a dignified reburial they deserve.
