I am also a member of NUMSA and was very much concerned about the naming of the trade union instead of the leaders within the union as we know leaders who appeared in other lists without the blessing of the union and these comrades did not even had branches but were nominated to serve the ANC and were given membership just before Polokwane. These comrades are not assisting and bafuna ukuphumzwa, we have national coordinators that are not intervening whereas companies are retrenching and still going to retrench and they are just on the road show campaigning.

Mchana, I like your analysis Kagiso although I do not know if the epoch
will make any difference because people vote for manifestos that are
presented to them, I am imagining a manifesto that will be presented by
people like Terror. The new leadership of the ANC working with the alliance
is in a process of formulating the manifesto that will acknowledge the
shortfalls of Mbeki administartion and building on that with umf to
implement the better life for all. I am trying to think if their slogan
will not be " Fighting Back" like the DA once had or we are likely to see a
coalition with the DA and UDM.
As for Mbeki, If he goes with them and his mom, he will be proving to us
that to be an intellectual does not mean that you are smart. The only
problem I have is the mention of NUMSA which I am a member of. NUMSA will
once again reaffirm the ANC as the political home of metalworkers next week
in Vanderbilpark, Emerald Casino as it meets in its 8th National Congress.

Mchana! i have to say, your imput it's what we call progressive
introspection, because as the ANC we cannot leave any part of the society
unattended because it might cause a damage, we need to regroup and unite
within the organisation and as a nation.
We can be positive to emerge massively during 2009 elections, but with the
existance of a new breakaway party,it will be a bit complex, though i'd
like to reiterate the fact the indeed the conditions in which previous
splinter party from the ANC took place in the past were totally different
from now. We need to work very harder than before!
During PAC breakaway by Robert Sobukwe,
conditions were as follow;
Year: 1959
Reason for breakway: number of members broke away from the African
National Congress because they objected to the ANC's non-racial policies
and wished to take a bolder approach based more on mass action.
Who broke away: Robert Sobukwe and other members, not merely the most
influencial people or visionary leaders, thats why they were they are
today.
Democratic state?: not at all!, South Africa by then was in the process
fighting for freedom and democracy. "democratic rights term was not
written in the dictionaries of the white people"
Who was the President of the ANC: Chief Albert Luthuli
South Africa's Political Condition: It was during apartheid era, people of
South Africa especially blacks by then all they wanted was unity amongst
black people in order to fight the enemy " apartheid". ANC was united and
there were no individual Camps for leadership within the ANC that surfaced
through the ANC structures.
Economically: majority of our people were indeed poor and most of them
uneducated due to restrictions to education by white led government by
then, it was not easy for any splinter party to convince the general
people otherways because every one had one vision.
Targeted Market / People to rally support from: It was only from Black
people
Unity amongst Africans: It was one of the most viable things that brought
were we are today, so even our african brothers and sisters knew that ANC
was the only organisation to liberate Africa, that is ANC had Camps in
other African Countries, there were no things such as Xenophobia, African
citizen had one view about SA, but now we even find our black african
brothers decampaigning SA in Europe.
Breakaway of UDM by Bantu Holomisa
Year: 1997
Reason for breakway: Bantu Holomisa who was expelled from the ANC after
accusing a top party official of corruption, therefore "misconduct"
Who broke away: Bantu Holomisa, and few, not prominent leaders and was
joined by National Party leader Roelf Meyer, who was view as a reactionary
by blacks. The party had a base in one province.
Democratic state?: Yes!, three years after 1994, South Africa by then was
for the first time felt free or experienced democracy and it was still
very very young.
Who was the President of the ANC: Thabo Mbeki
South Africa's Polictical Condition: It's just after we won 1994 first
national democratic elections, people of South Africa especially blacks by
then were very reluctant to change to another party, the acts of racism
were still much strong and visible. The ANC was united and there were no
individual Camps for leadership within the ANC that surfaced through the
ANC structures
Economically: The economy was not yet stable, but progressing to stablitiy
and majority of our people were starting to go tertiary
institutions, schools to acquire education, people started to obtain high
profile positions in the companies and black entrepreneurs started to
emerge strongly. it was not easy for any splinter party to convince the
general people otherways because every one had one vision.
Targeted Market / People to rally support from: It was mostly from Black
people and hence Roelf Meyer was there to rally white support.
Unity amongst Africans: it was still strong..
New party breakaway so called " 1912 ANC"
Year: 2008
Reason for breakway: number of members are with the view that our
leadership has veered the organisation away from the established policy
priorities and customary democratic norms of the ANC. And also recalling
of Thabo Mbeki being a major factor. Hence we believe our leadership took
the decision in healing and uniting the ANC
Who might brake away: Terror Lekota, Mbasima Shilowa, George Mluleki, Esop
pahad, Thabo Mbeki?, resigned ministers, Willie Madisha? recalled
premiers, recalled counsilors, expelled leaders on the ground level, anti
- Malema and Jacob Zuma members, those who lost in polokwane and Mangaung
April 2008 YL congress,NUMSA?
Democratic state?: yes!, South Africa by now got democracy on thier
hands, people are settling that there will be no more apartheid with "
forward ever backward never" state of mind. now every individual has
vested Human rights that is protected by our constitution. any political
party now it got all racial dinominations within.
Who was the President of the ANC: Thabo Mbeki then Kgalema Motlanthe
South Africa's Political Condition: Every one in the country has the
freedom of choice, no longer oppressed and Apartheid is won. ANC
currently is not united from National level to Branch level and there are
individual Camps for leadership within the ANC that surfaced through the
ANC structures. with other members with the view that ANC lost the plot.
Economically: Most of people in urban areas are living a better life,
whiles majority of people in rural ereas are still struggling, but better
than before, now with access to essential needs and services, education.
Generally with the Commitment of the ANC to better lifes of our people,
now majority of our people are now stable and most of them educated due to
ANC led government policies, even though some feel that new leadership of
the country is needed. South African economy is doing better than the rest
or most of African countries. is it easy for a splinter party to convince
the general people otherways ?.
Targeted Market / People to rally support from: all South African people,
black, white, coloured and indian
Unity amongst Africans: Currently some parts of Africa are not happy in
the manner our country treats other african brothers and sisters.
Xenophobia, being one tempering situation, African citizen had one view
about SA, but now we even find our black african brothers decampaigning SA
in Europe. and members of africa who gained citizendhip not happy too.
Comrades indeed we need to ensure that such breakway party does not come
to existance, through internal dialogues, discussions with the sense of
finding each other as comrades. Because if we will continue to ignore and
leave disgruntled members unattended, it will never help the organisation
but rather destroy our beloved ANC. Some of us become very jealous if such
tendencies persists within our ANC that our fore-fathers shed blood for.
Thats my view..... i stand to be guided and corrected!
I CALL FOR UNITY........!
MATLA!

AGAINST LEKOTA

The current situation is far too different from yester year.
I am going to be a member of the ANC until my casket goes down, however I
acknowledge the damage that this pseudo-defenders of democracy can cause
to the all powerful ANC. When others left the organization, there was no
state power, less opportunists and material benefits were not as is
today. It is therefore simple for anyone (including the hot blooded
members of the ANC) to venture into new things that might promise
material gains. Even if not sustainable, it has the capacity to reduce
votes for the ANC in the contemporary.
The number of aggrieved members in Western Cape, North West and Free
State (including Terror) and other parts of the country's citizenry
cannot be ignored, the sacking and suspension of councillors and mayors
in Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape and other provinces cannot be ignore, the
number of aggrieve general masses who have not find work since 1994
cannot be ignored, the number of poverty stricken areas and families
since ANC took over cannot be ignored. This situation dictates that the
country has more vulnerable people who can venture into anything that can
revive their hopes in life.
I think that our responsibility is to counter any act by this
pseudo-defenders of democracy. We need to decampaign Cde Terror and them.
We should collectively speak one voice: Unity in moving forward. Leaving
Terror and others to start a political party will not help the ANC. Our
calls to axe Terror might not be good for now but corrective measures
should be taken to ensure non-continuity of the establishment of the
"new" party. We need more than two third majority which could seem
impossible if we allow the hot-blooded members of the ANC to part ways
with the ANC.
A hands on deliberation and bilateral negotiation with the hot blooded is
correct. I also support the ANC to utilize TM for the elections campaign.
In any case, every member should be campaigning for the organization. It
might calm the anger and change the attitude of many. Most are not
fighting the ANC but sympathize with TM, a reality we cannot ignore.
These will as well be a signal that TM is a loyal member of the ANC and
will continue to serve the organization he dearly worked for and love.
Lastly, I think that the spokesperson of the ANC should be in charge of
media and other communications. The secretary General should be seen as a
person who welcomes everyone. Exposing him to media where he is seen
differing with other members of the ANC is not (in my opinion) good for
the unifying office he occupies. However, he should communicate to the
public issues that seek to defend the integrity and constitution of the
ANC.
Phantsi with the "New" party Phantsi!!
