I agree maqabani. We must learn to be tolerant to other people's views,
regardless of whether we concur with them or not. There are comrades who
genuinely raise their honest views in this forum, and sometimes they get
attacked by those who claim to be more revolutionary than all of us. LET
US RESPECT AND TOLERATE DIFFERENCE IN IPINIONS.

However, we must also not be over-sensitive to criticisms as we continue
to engage in this Forum. When you post your opinion on this Forum, you
expect comrades to entertain it and respond when necessary. It is not
given that all responses to your opinion will always be complementary.
Let us not get hurt when some comrades mercilessly dismiss our points of
view.

There are also those who are just NAUGHTY in this Forum, those who raise
issues that are insulting and solely intended at undermining the
integrity of some of our leaders. When that happens we cannot be
expected to keep quite. That is where name calling and labeling come
into the picture. If such malicious and naughty opinions are left
unchallenged, then they can end up confusing some of our sincere and
honest comrades in this Forum.

I couldn't agree with you more Cde Mdu, when you differ with what is
termed "popular view in this forum, you are deemed reactionary and
"abusing the platform". You will hear shouts such as "Domza please wipe
away this lunatic", you will be told to engage not here, but at the
"Friends of democracy website", otherwise for you to be taken as Cadre,
"you must call cde Thabo a dead snake", then you are pro Zuma. These are
some individuals whose views are so predictable to the extend that when
I see their names reflecting on the screen, I become reluctant to read
cause i know i will find insults only. But let us not blame them, lets
give them chance, coz i am convinced they either joined ANC in Mangaung
during that dramatic congress in the history of the League, or joined
outside Maritzburg court on 12 September 2008. We have been here and
will continue to engage.

Comrade Terrence!!

I wonder why you think in that way. Why do you suspect that those who
raise their views are not independent but sent by "handlers". We should
refrain from running this forum like a faction. I understand that this
forum is for YCL that has preferred that ascendance of Msholozi to power
however I think that we should allow people to air their views so that
we are correctly located to analyze how society thinks.

Our role as students of this communists is to give everyone a chance to
cough out whatever that which could not be coughed out in relevant
platforms. Your suggestion is correct in that there is no revolutionary
platform that cannot be hijacked however we should not treat young
minds with suspicion. Instead this forum should ensure that knowledge is
transferred and regurgitated. Calling others dangerous defeat the
purpose of this university.

We cannot be a university of generally agreeing students, we need that
dissenting voice. Contradictions breed development and I believe that
the contradictory views that has occupied this cyberspace have one way
or the other sharpened our reasoning capacities. The approach of doing
away with those who do not share ones sentiments is against democratic
values and cannot be applied in this university.

However, reckless statements or writings done against anyone should be
condemned. Equally, the leadership should guide us correctly by playing
away from dangerous statements such as the following:

"Last kick of a dying horse" - Who is a dying horse?
"Dead snake" - Why do we call other comrades "dead snakes"?

The language that our leaders adopted of late makes one to wonder what
happened in high offices. Is this a way of saying there is us and them.
Why do we allow leaders to divide this revolutionary movement. The
triumph-alist approach will not allow us space to heal the organization.
Instead it will deepen the crisis that many of us are denying its
existence.

Moving forward: The role of the ANC, Alliance and MDM structures is not
to purge people or manage factionalism but to provide leadership where
it is due. The campaigns for next year's elections will not be simpler
than that of previous years. Let us put all our efforts in ensuring a
massive victory for the ANC. Amandla!!
