Amandla Maqabane.

It is with pleasure to me to initiate or just remind all comrades the most
important political program that all revolutionary forces have to embark
on very soon. A right to learn campaign of this year is not similar to any
other year’s program, hence it take place concurrently with the general
election campaigns.

I think one important feature of our election program is to mobilize all
the young people to rally behind the progressive transformational agenda
of the African National Congress. I also viewing ourselves as the youth of
this country as bit relaxed when it comes to education as a common ground
of all the organized and unorganized youth of this country.

The Department of Education has aborted our people in numerous fronts. (1)
The change of curriculum at high school level, I suppose it suggests some
drastic changes in tertiary institutions with regard to admission and so
on and so forth. We have witnessed in numerous occasions our potential
students being denied their fundamental human right to education. This
baseless educational exclusion has manifested itself in two ways: 1. the
tactical delay by the DoE to release the metric results. 2. The useless
and time consuming subject (Life Orientation) which is not recognized by
the most interesting courses in the university.

The reality of the matter is: the minister of education has not just
failed ONLY us who are currently within the system, but she has failed the
entire country at large. We cannot as a developing country afford to have
learners who spend almost 12 years in high schools and in the eve of the
realization of their future where one has to enter the industry or
tertiary institutions are now being told that they do not qualify.

I want to propose that this year; a right to lean campaign should at least
focus closely in devising a mechanism to open the doors of learning
wildly. That is just the beginning, an actual task will be: all registered
learners and students are mobilized to vote for the popular mass political
organization, the ANC. All that can be achieve once all of us as comrades
and cadres we are registered both to vote and as students or learners.

I think it is also paramount that in our respective branches at school and
in the community based branches we have a clear program as to how best we
can assist the ANC, our organization to achieve and implement the 52nd
National Congress resolutions. Particularly with regards to the Free,
Quality and Public education only for “-People’s power” (YCL).

Socialism in our Life time,
