Fellow Comrades

We welcome the fermentation of such discussions as per the brief of YCL
Forum.We read with interest your articulation of your viewpoints around
education in the country.

This debate is not about starting new processes of Manifesto submissions but
further elaboration of the future we aspire for as enshrined in Our ANC
Manifesto.The role of COSAS and SASCO should not undermined is this discussion.

Education for Use should be our proposition to argue on our Comrade's views
worth to be clarified;

Firstly,The right to learn is a key milestone to be achieved for a better
future for Our Country,which cannot be disputed.The Joe Slovo Education
Campaigns are meant to every year incalcate that love.The struggle cannot be
achieved without a sense of love to education,which can be used to oppress or
liberate.But;the latter should be our vocation.

Secondly;Our Comrade,continued to say"Youth are a bit relaxed when it comes to
Education as a common ground of all the organized ad unorganized of this
Country".The critical question is How does you measure your assertion???It is
our(my) view that we continue to see young people on long lines at
Schools,FET's,Colleges and Universities gunning to be registered,which in my
view indicate that young people believe that they are authors of their
future.Unless our Comrade has figures researched to substantiate the argument
further,we are ready to indulge on same.

Thirdly;He continued to say"Department of Education has aborted our people in
numerous fronts,amongst others;
"Curriculum Changes at High Schools"
"Admission in Institution of Higher Learning"
"Potential Students denied their fundamental human right"
"Minster of Education having failed the entire country" etc.

All the least above listed are debatable,for example;

Firstly;The curriculum changes were made and it was acknowledged that Educators
were inadequatetly prepared for the changes,thus capacity to manage the changes
were raised in all quarters.My submissions are also based on my experience as a
former pedagogue that Educator development in the Department was inadequartely
attended to hence SADTU has always saying educator development should be
prioritised and Colleges of Education re-opened.

Secondly;The release of results was reflected by our Comrade and He
said"Minister of Education failed the entire country at large".My take is that
the approach by my Comrade is mimnimal insofar as I'm concerned.The appraoch
should be by case to case analysis.How do you release results for a student who
never pitched for a paticular learning area exam???
The honest fact is that it it improper to derail progression of Learners and/or
Students to further their studies in any form.

Thrdly;My Comrade mentioned the view that "LIFE ORIENTATION IS NOT RECOGNISED
BY TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS" is a misrepresentation of facts.Our learners have
showed symptons of cracking due to lack of Guidance in the Old Education
system.The imparting and nurturing of Life Skills at
schools,Creches,Colleges,FET's,Universities should be done to have balanced
beings.Social ills will be outrooted by youth who are grounded.

Lastly;A vote for the ANC is the consolidation and enhancing of the
revolutionary struggles COSAS,SASCO,SADTU,YCL,ANCYL and All COSATU
Unions continue to do and rally around to realize the dreams of a better future
for all.

The challenges of today is not about writing and reading but about Unlearning
and re-learning new and different ways of offering change to our country and
the world at large.

It is not yet Uhuru!!!!
