*YCLSA salutes COSATU on its firm stance on the right of soldiers to form a
union*

*21 September 2009*

The Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba) would like to salute
COSATU President, Sdumo Dlhamini, on affirming the federation’s stance with
regards to the unionisation of soldiers.

The YCLSA remains opposed to the unilateral introduction of a Military
Service Commission, which we merely see as a sweetheart form of a trade
union, which seeks to undermine the significance of a union within any
working environment.

We still await further details on the Military Service Commission so that we
engage with it in detail. We reaffirm our call for better pay for soldiers,
and call on President Jacob Zuma to act in this regard.

Issued by the YCLSA head office
