ANC lauds struggle stalwart The ANC has paid tribute to struggle hero Ronnie Press, who was buried in "At this hour of need, our condolences go to his family and friends. The ANC lowers its banner for this gigantic cadre and leader of our movement," the party said. Press was a member of the Congress of Democrats in 1953 and played an active role in the South African Congress of Trade Unions, the ANC and its armed wing, and the SACP. "His contribution to the struggle against apartheid has been quite immense. A trained chemical engineer, comrade Ronnie provided the movement with technical expertise," the ANC said.
