Old habits die Hard
I have observed the recent debate (attacks) based on racial lines and this has
brought me an understanding of the long existing history of the African
National Congress. I have learned that the attack on the comrade (Cronin) is
nothing but the long existing mouth job of the ANC from the early days of its
existence were the ANC has always operated on racial lines and further more it
has never been what it has claimed to be... The African National Congress as
founded by the black elites has always had resistance on fundamental
transformation and that is clear that it has failed to adapt to its initial
objectives of non-racial nor has it settled to the non-sexist motives that it
claims to have.
Let us correctly relate this in the historical incidents of what may give an
outlook of the realities to this debate....as a Cde who has always stood and
fought for a non racial, non sexist, democratic and prosperous, egalitarian
South Africa. I am of the view that debates should be at all times informed by
historical processes and realities of that particular epoch. Maybe comrade
Malema and the ANCYL may not be informed of the historical background of and
role played by comrade Jeremy Cronin in our revolution, one need to acknowledge
that comrade Cronin and many other “white” comrades within the ANC and the mass
democratic movement had a choice like any of the white South Africans to either
settle within the apartheid system and live happily ever or fight against those
existing injustice, however Cronin and others choose us, and that automatically
disqualifies comrade Malema and the ANCYL statement of him being racist however
let us observe if him
(Malema) and the ANCYL are not?
I would not suggest that the ANCYL is racist nor would I attempt to justify any
comrade from wavering away from the freedom charter (I support the move to
Nationalize Mines and every wealth of this country) though I believe that the
debate is open for corrections and the interpretation of this may differ in all
categories of understanding... trying to raise above sound politics... ANC and
the existence of the ANCYL even before the times of the former president of
ANCYL it has been nothing but racial exclusive to the white minority that even
though felt that the white domination was unjust to the Black majority... let
us check statements like “ kill the Boer... kill the farmer...” which even now
I find extremely racist... We all know that the ANC has always had a problem I
excepting some (whites) in its ranks.
However a great leader defined comrade Malema and the current ANCYL long
existing tendencies and said...
“An immature revolutionary has to go through a long process of revolutionary
tempering and self-cultivation, a long process of remoulding, before he cam
become a mature and seasoned revolutionary who can grasp and skilfully apply
the laws of revolution. For in the first place, a comparatively immature
revolutionary, born and bred in the old society, carries with him the remnants
of the various ideologies of that society (including its prejudices, habits and
traditions), and in the second he has not been through a long period of
revolutionary activity. Therefore he does not yet have a really thorough
understanding of the enemy, of the people or of the laws of social development
and revolutionary struggle. In order to change this state of affairs, besides
learning from past revolutionary experience (the practice of our predecessors),
he must himself participate in contemporary revolutionary practice, and in this
revolutionary practice and struggle
against all kinds of counter revolutionaries,3 he must bring his conscious
activity into full play and work hard at study and self-cultivation. Only so
can he acquire deeper experience and understanding of the laws of social
development and revolutionary struggle, acquire a really thorough understanding
of the enemy and the people, discover his wrong ideas, habits and prejudices
and correct them, and thus raise the level of his political consciousness,
cultivate his revolutionary qualities and improve his revolutionary methods.
Hence, in order to remould himself and raise his owl level, a revolutionary
must take part in revolutionary practice from which he must on no account
isolate himself. Moreover, he must strive to conduct self-cultivation and study
in the course of practice. Otherwise, it will still be impossible for him to
make progress.”
Nelson Mandala on his early ages as a young radical leader, his soundness has
never been informed by any political maturity but his interpersonal hatred for
the the influence of whites within the movement, however it was camaflashed as
a resistance towards communism and truly is that they had based their debate to
its foreignness as that of white domination and quoted to have said “...a white
foreign concept (communism)...”
The ANCYL and its leadership has in all time agitated for an exclusion of white
leaders within its ranks and it further on believed that even within the ANC
should be that of practice... and comrade Malema is not not immune from that.
Let us check the realities of the freedom charter and the ANC of then and
relatively of now... we have seen a break trough of misinterpretation if not
misunderstanding of the document itself... comrade Joel, comrade Gwede (on his
capacity as the SG) and many ANC and ANC NEC members are taking advantage of
the historical realities of the forever on going distortion on the initial
interpretation of the freedom charter, I don't remember in any congress of the
ANC a change nor a different interpretation of the Freedom charter, so clearly
the freedom chatter say nothing but what it is contained it the document
itself...
Let us zoom in some of the clause of the freedom charter non racial non
sexist... is the ANC non racial? If not, let us unpack this....ANC on the long
history it has we have seen long and ongoing exclusion of the white minority no
matter how capable they may have been, only that comrade Joe Slovo was given a
complimentary leadership role as the secretary for political development within
the NEC only because of his consistence influence within the international
sphere... but however we have seen in the past history where white comrades
have been marginalized comrades like Mandala attacking on the white comrades
within the ANC, his attack on comrade ......
however I still find the non sexist stand of the ANC questionable... the
establishment of the ANCWL seek to bring unrest on the confidence of the ANC to
women capability, this however suggest that women are supplementary recent full
to their existence and to where should they advance their issues (to be
continued)
Malema should be careful.....
