Courts are really not the route, lest we want to do things the way COPE does.
But, surely revolutionary ideas should be pursued without any form of purging
dissenting voices. So too, in a movement that is founded on the universal
principles of democracy, ambition should be encouraged!!!

Amandla! Cde Andile Lungisa our Deputy President of the tried and tested youth
organisation (ANCYL) in the entire continent and the world. The statement
should not mean that certain leaders must then erode the constitution of this
important youth movement with impunity!

Amandla!

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE NATIONAL GENERAL COUNCIL POSTPONED TO THE LAST WEEKEND OF
AUGUST 2010

08 July 2010

The ANC Youth League National General Council, which was initially planned for
the 12th to 16th of July 2010 will now happen between the 24th and 27th of
August 2010 in Gauteng Province. The NGC is postponed because ANC Youth League
Provinces are convening their Provincial Congresses and prepare all regions,
sub-regions and branches for the NGC. Furthermore, all branches of the ANC
Youth League should have discussed the NGC discussion documents and formulated
perspective on what they should input at the National General Council.

National General Council is a Constitutional gathering of the ANC Youth League
tasked with the responsibility to scrutinise, determine and review policies and
programmes of the ANC Youth League. The Council will also receive reports from
the National Executive Committee on work done thus far.

Recurrent updates about media accreditation and arrangements will be made.

STATEMENT BY ANC YOUTH LEAGUE DEPUTY PRESIDENT ANDILE LUNGISA ON THE DISCIPLINE
AND UNITY OF THE ANC YOUTH LEAGUE

08 July 2010

Most media reports in the past two weeks have sought to suggest that I, Andile
Lungisa, am at the centre of divisions in the African National Congress Youth
League in my capacity as Deputy President. These reports recurrently suggest
that I am challenging the incumbent President of the ANC Youth League as
President of the organisation now and in the National Congress in 2011. I
officially distance myself from all these allegations and put it on record that
I will not do anything that divides the organisation.

As a disciplined member of the organisation, I hold a view that those who take
the ANC Youth League to Court are ill-disciplined, because disciplined members
of the organisation discuss issues within the organisation and accept all the
principles of democratic centralism. If any person thought that they will
engage in ill-disciplined activities in my name, they should know that I do not
approve of such actions. The ANC Youth League remains an important organisation
in the transformation of society and should never be sacrificed for anything.

Media detractors should altogether stop using my name to drive divisions within
the ANC Youth League, because such attempts will never succeed. The ANC Youth
League is unanimous and very clear on all the political and ideological
positions we intend to pursue towards the centenary of the ANC in 2012, and no
one will successfully divide the organisation using our names.
