Respecting the overall political authority of the ANC, comrade Lehlogonolo Masoga has displayed exemplary cadreship and agreed to withdraw his court challenge to the ANCYL NEC disciplinary hearing against him, pending the intervention of the ANC. Disturbingly but not surprisingly, individuals in the NEC of the YL have gone out of their way to organise a special meeting for this coming Friday 16th which is tomorrow, in order to endorse the pre- determined outcome of the DC and continue to pursue a cynical and discredited disciplinary process so that they can expel comrade Masoga despite the intervention by the ANC.
To attest to this, an sms was sent by the ANCYL Prosecutor Alec Moweni reading: * '' The finalisation of the disciplinary hearing will take place this Friday 16 July 2010''. * * * It must be noted that this Alec Moweni is the same man who approached comrade Masoga about the plea bargain proposal which proved to be a dirty trick. In this plea bargain he proposed that Masoga admits guilt and that he will be rewarded by being suspended from the ANCYL for two months, and that he must also take leave from contesting any leadership position in the ANCYL for a period of 18 months. This very Alec Moweni was present when the so called NDC chased out Masoga's representative when he requested to consult with one of his witnesses. It is the same monotonous Alec Moweni who had initially recommended expulsion of comrade Masoga long before the conclusion of the hearing. All this is testimony to what we regard as the display of utter disregard for the ANC' s overall political authority on the basis of a shallow and factional understanding of the autonomy of the ANCYL.The latest behaviour by these individuals in the ANCYL NEC underscores the desperation to abuse power in order not to reconvene the Makhado conference they stole. They are full aware that the ANC intervention will lead to this eventuality. They also know that branches of the ANCYL no longer have faith in them and that come 2011, they will be ditched. The postponement of the NGC testifies to this fear of the power of branches. As latter day defenders of the principle of democratic centralism, their conduct belies and thus abuses the very same principle. They have exposed their political childishness and hypocrisy by applying rules selectively to suit their agenda expelling comrade Masoga, thus silencing anyone questioning His Master's voice. We wish to place it on record that we will not stand by the wayside while comrade Masoga is being harassed and abused by those who are determined to sow instability in the whole movement. As the ANC heads for its Centenary in in 2012, we will spare neither effort nor strength to ensure stability and unity of the Movement. The withdrawal of the court case by comrade Masoga was a step towards this direction. The second step is to defeat completely the Agenda to expel Masoga, as it is nothing else but an attempt to deepening divisions and instability and destabilisation. We vow never to allow such thievery.
