SACP NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON THE PREMIER’S PUBLIC AND MEDIA LIES Tuesday, 31 August 2010
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the North West province is very concern over the public statements made by the North West premier Maureen Modiselle, regarding the credit card belonging to the “former” MEC of Sports, Arts and Culture, Comrade Grace Bothman. It is according to us as the SACP in the province highly problematic for a premier to lie to the public as this confirms without any doubt the view we always had that the premier is not capable of providing leadership. For starters, the premier claimed in the media that Comrade Grace used the government credit card for her own personal needs, but the premier failed to tell the media and the public that in the letter of dismissal to Comrade Grace she indicated that the credit card and other official benefits should be handed over on or before the 30th September 2010 – now to say the card has been used by the MEC wrongly is completely disingenuous unprofessional to say the least. It further confirms the fact that the premier seem to run our province as if it is a spaza shop. Furthermore, the premier failed to tell the public and the media that the issue of the dismissal of Comrade Grace was never on the basis of corruption or anything in relation to that but Comrade Grace was dismissed based on a relationship with the premier. Now to state the issue of corruption is a big lie nothing but a big lie. As we will be gathering for the provincial General council in the coming weekend, we will amongst others discuss this matter thoroughly including the strategy of the removal of the premier and her factional colleagues.
