Job description

A push start for your career

With more and more evidence being prevalent around the gap that exists between
higher education and the world of work, training and development in this space
is no longer a luxury but a necessity. In recent Higher Education South Africa
(HESA) reports, graduates are accused of not being able to be find information;
select appropriate information and solve problems; lack an understanding of
business and economic realities as well as a deficiency in openness and
flexibility.

The Deloitte Graduate Academy (DGA) is strategically placed to assist graduates
with the successful orientation into the world of work. The DGA recruits
graduates on behalf of clients across a number of different industries and then
places them in the workplace with respective employers. At the same time
graduates complete a 12 month learnership programme called Business Consulting
Practice ERP NQF5 Certificate. Graduates will be based full time at the Academy
in Woodmead for the first three months, thereafter they are placed at their
employer sites.

Graduates will return back to the Academy for four days of the month for the
remaining 9 months, where training and development will continue. The programme
incorporates theory, practice and workplace application into the development
process of which coaching and mentoring is provided. Regular independent
assessments take place which result in a SAQA-approved qualification. There is
specialist training over and above the Learnership as well as a specialist
certification if required by the employer.

The DGA is in the process of developing a number of different specialisations
from SAP Consulting, Business Analysis, Strategy, Internal & IT Audit, Human
Resources, Information Technology, Finance to name a few of the current 30 job
specs we are currently developing on behalf of employers.

Competencies developed through the DGA are written and verbal communication
skills; understanding how business works; the role and use of Technology in
business (SAP); operating in a project environment and list of different life
skills from stress management to conflict management and different types of
leadership skills, to name but a few. Graduates are encouraged to leave the
programme with a drivers licence and passport.

If you are the type of individual that is looking for an opportunity where a
solid foundation can be established where you can spring board your careers
from then the DGA is the place for you.

How to apply

The next intake for the DGA will commence in July 2011.
