SACP NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL STATEMENT ON ELECTIONS CAMPAIGNS Friday, 08 April 2011
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the North West province wishes to call on all its cadres to actively and leadingly participate in the Local government elections campaigns for the overwhelming victory of the African National Congress (ANC). And those who are calling on our cadres not to campaign for the ANC victory are not only silly behaving but equally disregarding SACP decisions. It is our organisational and constitutional decision to campaign for the ANC victory, and any other thing in our view does not call for our attention. As the SACP in the North West we call on all our cadres and structures to desist from making contradictory public pronouncements with regard to elections, we have in this case looked critically on statements made by in particular the Moses Kotane District – those in our understanding who made this statements are not speaking on behalf of any SACP structure or cadres except themselves and opportunistic individuals. We will following these pronouncements consider taking disciplinary actions against all this political and organisationally ill-discipline persons. Though we noted with deep concerns the conduct of some ANC provincial leaders in dealing with the listing processes, we are however, of the view that no amount of anger could justify any public disregard of SACP congress decisions. As the SACP in the province, we further call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ANC through the office of the Secretary General to conduct thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to the removal of Ashmar Khudugeas acting Municipal Manager and that Ashmar should be taken back into that position until the post is filled formally. Again we are concern of the fact that the ANC cannot be allowed to take deployment decisions without consulting the Alliance partners and then expect the Alliance partners to appreciate ANC decisions. The removal of an acting municipal manager two before the elections and replacement by another acting Municipal Manager does make any good management sense. As the SACP in the North West we will continue to utilise proper political and organisational platforms to engage the ANC and other Alliance partners on our serious concerns not of individuals, but of clear principled positions.
