*YOUNG COMMUNIST LEAGUE IN DURBAN WEST DISCTRICT DISTANCES ITSELF FROM KZN STATEMENT*
*03 June 2011* The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in KwaZulu Natal from Durban West District has learnt with amazement and, at best, is embarrassed by the statement issued by someone titling himself as a KZN YCL Organising Secretary attacking the leadership of NUMSA in the province in a personalized attack that does not only seek to demean him but to cast aspersions that are not founded in his name. Firstly, this District like all others are still working towards a provincial congress that will elect a new leadership from the one we elected in the previous congress. We still emphasise that there is no interim structure that purport to lead and speak on our behalf as this province except the PEC leadership we elected in the last congress. The statement made is unfortunate and represent a factional sector in the province so small to quantify but propped up by the provincial office which is their base. It is a group mostly drawn from students in the University of KwaZulu Natal which has never been active beyond campuses. Their daily business since the beginning of the year is to sniff conspiracies against SACP leaders and is obsessed with these campaigns which are their daily bread (this is their job description). We as Districts are busy with programs, political classes, launching branches as part of Operation Khula. The Young Communist League is not for sale to position- thirsty individuals. Comrade Mbuso Ngubane, the Regional Secretary of NUMSA in KwaZulu Natal is a former Deputy Provincial Secretary of the province of the Young Communist League and those who have been members of the YCL in KZN, at the very least in the last 5 years, will know. It can only be the new comers( new brigade), that always jump from one organisation’s leadership seat to other organisations seat with little inclination to learn and even know your predecessors. We want to put on record that NO securities were ever hired by NUMSA to YCL PEC. Ngubane as a former leader cannot be in any business of causing problems in the organisation he once led from its founding provincial congress and shortly to the second term. To make insane innuendos like these can only serve to dirty the YCL than the intended person it is directed and it questions the intellectual level and the extent of childishness less expected even from COSAS to be dominating the League. Is this the kind of YCL we are having today at all levels that thrive through rumour mongering, shouting to imaginary enemies of leadership because there are congresses. Is campaigning for leaders a deduction of programs such that they are the only permanent Party and YCL life. Is this the type of the YCL tasked to provide leadership to us and the rest of the young people? There is no doubt that Ruth First and other former leaders of the Young Communist League are turning in their grave. Even those comrades who fought hard for the re-launch were not seeking for the YCL that is in such a state. As Durban West we distance ourselves from the statement issued under the collective YCL of KZN *“ It’s not in our name”.* Issued by Young Communist League Durban West District Thabani Molefe 082 308 2717 * * * * -- You are subscribed.
