*YCLSA condemns the stoning to death of a Zimbabwean national in Limpopo* * *
14 June 2011 The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] condemns the stoning to death of a Zimbabwean national in Limpopo, Polokwane as per an SABC News report. The stoning happens amidst concerns raised over the shocking killing in Diepsloot earlier in the year with international media houses publishing a video from the scenes. As the YCL, we have at all times opposed to and campaigned against killings of anyone, including foreign nationals. We find it deplorable that the community of Polokwane has sought to take the law into their own hands when they should be allowing police and the courts to do this. We call on police to protect all our people, and irrespective of what allegations, be it crime or any of the suspicions the people have against foreign nationals, that the police be allowed to deal with it. We further call on our people to realize that we are all human beings, we are all Africans and that irrespective of our nationality, no one's life is cheaper. We have to realize the need to undermine the artificial borders created and start treating each other as a people. Xenophobia must be fought just as apartheid another form of hatred, was fought and defeated. The YCLSA will mobilize all our people and our structures to fight against this disease, and call on government, civil society, political parties and youth formations to intensify efforts to fight xenophobia. We will also be using our June 16 activities to send a message against Xenophobia.
