** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** *PRESS RELEASE* *NATIONAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AGENCY* *25 OCTOBER 2011* * * *NYDA supports the Jobs for Youth Summit* With 42% of young South Africans under the age of 30 unemployed compared to only 17% of adults over 30 who are unemployed, the current youth unemployment crisis poses a threat to the future of ****South Africa****’s economy and requires an all-inclusive strategy. **** The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is supporting the second annual Jobs for Youth Summit organised by the Jobs for Youth Coalition and supported by the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA), the South African Youth Council (SAYC), the South African Students Congress (SASCO) as well as 186 political and civil society and political organisations. The summit, hosted from 26 to 28 October, aims to influence both government and the private sector on the programmes and policy interventions that need to be tabled in order to realise jobs for youth.**** Last year, the NYDA Executive Chairperson, Andile Lungisa addressed the summit and acknowledged the importance of such platforms for collective discussions around job creation.
