SACP
JOINS NEHAWU PICKETING AGAINST VICTIMISATION OF WORKERS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF
LAND AND AGRARIAN REFORM IN CAPE TOWN

PRESS
STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The SACP, in the Brian Bunting District,
is outraged to learn that, 17 years into democracy, victimization of workers
still persist in our country and in government departments in particular. As
the SACP, a vanguard Party of the workers in the Cape Metro,
we will fight shoulder by shoulder with these workers until their demands are
met.

As the SACP we are aware that
transformation in this country and Cape
Town in particular is like an Irish coffee with
sparkling chocolates. This indicates that the core and critical section of the
management still remains intact and dominated by White male consecutives and we
are saying through these demonstration we are marking the end of these
apartheid atrocities.

We refuse as the South African Communist
Party to let the hard won labour laws as enshrined in the constitution and many
other pieces of legislations being unimplemented. If there is no response on
these genuine demands compiled by Nehawu, as the SACP we will persuade Nehawu
to march.

Against this background, on Thursday 10th
November, as the SACP in the district we will mobilize our membership in Red
T-Shirts and caps to pledge solidarity support with these workers.
