Media Statement 09th November 2011 POPCRU on Humanitarian Assistance to Somalia POPCRU has supported the humanitarian assistance to Somali as part of enhancing international solidarity with the working class in general. We contend that the socio-economic situation in Somalia was not self-created but displays the harsh realities on the legacy of colonialism and also the ugly impact of Neo-liberal tendencies imposed by capitalism throughout the world. POPCRU will participate in the coming National Launch at Maponya Mall, Soweto on the 12th November 2011, and also reiterate our support as resolved by COSATU on the Action Plan for Somalia; ‘through mobilizing of pledges, raising awareness about the crisis and integrating the Somali refugee community within south African communities’. And we condemn any form of xenophobic tendencies experienced in some communities against any foreign nationals in the country and we are calling upon Law Enforcement Agencies to continue to expose these lunatics. Forward with International Solidarity!
