Thanks VC I said it before and many felt as if I am arrogant. I was Regional Secretary of SAMWU and all Marches that I organized we were victors cause I did not rely on government to organize workers but to have control over SAMWU membership.
You said it all VC, we should be honest COSATU lacks revolutionary character now it serves as drum beat almost like gospel group. I was in struggles of COSATU before I was even employed but today restrictions you would never get COSATU on the ground cause they want ANC or Government to organize workers for them. Let's wait May Day and you would realize that there is no consciousness within COSATU cause such days are reduced to be holidays! Agggg! So we should use the law that we already have. But the law cannot do what organising should do. Unions are supposed to organise workplaces, for security of employment and for collective bargaining. Who started the idea that the government was going to do this for you? It is bad trade unionism to say so, and it is lazy trade unionism. What, you get the law to organise the workplace, and then you collect the union contributions off the payroll? For what? It is not worth going on strike over this, comrades. Instead, those workplaces should be organised. The government is not going to organise workplaces if the unions don't do it.
