If any of you are against the anti-labour brokering march because you have
shares in those brokering businesses, you'd be happy to know Cosatu has invited
you to Join the March too, hahahaha

Gugu!

Let's await placards and comments of ordinarily members, then you would realize
the impact made by shopstewards against ANC. Labour Broking does not differs
from shopstewards exploiting its members through various forms of exploitation
its hot out there at shopfloor!

Check out Nehawu, Denosa and Sadtu!

Am not saying that,

Its not even about the ANCYL! My question is, Cosatu has had this march planned
for a while now-should it stop on the grounds of paranoia within the
MDM????????
Yes there are issues within the Alliance but fact is Labour broking is a
detrimental issue and e-tollings will have an impact on the cost of living in
SA . . . The YCL has come out in support of the march must we view them with
suspicion??? It seems like you conveniently forgetting the constituency we
serve!! Do you think our factional battles and petty politicking is what's on
their minds right now??? People are being exploited in the retail sector,
construction, mining through labour broking and all you choose to bicker about
is the "supposed" political motives? If there are WHO's fault is it?? Why is
the Alliance not sitting and discussing it????

Cadre Gugu,

Does that mean it must go on a collision course with the ANC?
Cde Gugu, I need not remind you that the ANC is the ruling party and the ANCYL
is its youth wing.

There is something fishy about this whole thing. I smell a rat somewhere here.
It looks like some people want to fulfill their interests at the poor worker's
expense.

Cde Gugu

Not exactly! The thing is aspects raised by COSATU are genuine but behind such
there are political issues which won't find public platform so this March is
not going to achieve its objects due to opportune leaders of COSATU.

Historically and by charater workers needs to confront its employers like in
many cases SADTU, NUMSA and SAMWU did and strike breakers were same COSATU
Office Bearers and recent action at Rustenburg clearly shows that workers no
longer have confidence on Federation, many affiliates lose membership to
opposing trade union thanks to Vavi!!

Of-Course Peaceful!

COSATU finds itself in dilemma the invitation its a way of accepting that 2015
Plan does not bear any fruits, precisely that some members don't want anything
to do with politics but issues of workers.

COSATU at Western Cape has lost to DA cause if its about political party they
would not form part of Marches. Sadly we are in alliance but it was well
calculated move by Vavi whilst also exposing his opportunistic elements in
disguise of championing interest of workers.

I guess COSATU was going to gain members from such Marches. And what would be
witnessed is confrontations on the marches cause COSATU get comfort to redicule
ANC now its clear that those ANC members joining COSATU would subject
themselves to ANC calling and they won't tolerated hooligans to direct the
March.

We would March being reduced to something else I bet DA would be laughing and
soon Vavi would be exposed cause Karl Marx warned us long before!

I pause

Vanguard!

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] ANC Calls for a Peaceful COSATU Protest

ANC

*ANC Calls for a Peaceful Protest by COSATU*

The African National Congress (ANC) calls on all those who will be
embarking on a protest actionorganised by COSATU, tomorrow, the 7th
March 2012, against e-tolling and labour brokers, to respect the rights
of all those who will not be participating in the protest action. We
also call on COSATU and all the protestors to ensure that this protest
action is peaceful and in keeping with the laws of our country.
Whilst we acknowledge protest as a right, the ANC is of the view that
the concerns raised by COSATU on the negative impact of tolling of roads
on people who earning less is over exaggerated, especially after
government intervention on the matter.

We believe that the intervention announced by the Minister of Finance,
Pravin Gordhan, during the Budget speech this year, on the Gauteng
Freeway Improvement Programme, will go a long way to alleviate financial
pressure on the poor and the working class of our country. This matter
has been address with the exemption of public transport ( taxis and
buses) from paying the toll costs. We are happy that the government has
made this concession which mitigates the pressure that would have been
borne by this category of low wage earners.

The Minister of Finance announced a special appropriation of R5.8
billion for the 2011/2012 expenditure. This will reduce the debt to be
repaid through the toll system, and will make a steeper discount
possible for regular road users, which includes the working force who
use their cars including small and medium entrepreneurs. The cap of
monthly tool fees payment to a maximum of R550, no matter how many trips
a motorist undertakes on the toll route, is again a clear indication of
the government intention to minimise the burden on the part of
consumers. For all these reasons therefore, it is the ANC absolute view
that the protest action is unnecessary, but we nonetheless respect the
right of those who want to protest.

On the issue of labour brokers, as one of the issues that necessitate
this protest, we are of the view that there are relevant structures,
such as the National Economic Development and Labour Council ( Nedlac),
were Organised Labour, including COSATU, has a seat and influence were
such issues can be discussed and resolved. As the ANC, we are hopeful and
confident that through the NEDLAC process a solution will be found on
this matter of labour brokers.
