*Mia Lindeque, Jacaranda 94.2, 24 March 2012 *The South African Communist Party's General Secretary Blade Nzimande has slammed the author of the book Eight days in September: The removal of Thabo Mbeki.
Nzimande said it seeks to discredit the progress the ruling party and government have made under the leadership of President Jacob Zuma.
Nzimande was speaking at a SACP Gauteng provincial congress in Benoni on Saturday.
"Reverent Frank Chikane must not write a book as if we were not there when those things that he is talk about was happening. He can't really make such a distortion of what happened that time, as if he is writing for a generation that will be living a hundred years from now. We were there. We were amongst those who were insulted and called extra-ordinary arrogant when we said we must accept the scientific view that HIV causes AIDS. He himself (Chikane) he doesn't say in that book where did he stood when it was denied, which caused us thousands of lives that we could have saved if we had actually gone the route of anti-retrovirals in this country," said Nzimande.
