* SACP SACP Statement, 27 March 2012* **
*Passing Away of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sudan* **The SACP has received with great sadness the news of the passing away of the General Secretary of the Sudanese Communist Party, Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim Nugud.
For years, the SACP and the Sudanese Communist Party have enjoyed cordial relations and co-operated at a number of levels, including in the hosting of the Africa Left Network Forum (ALNEF) conference in 2008.
A dedicated African Communist is no more! The working class in Africa and in Sudan has lost a committed leader, a dedicated compatriot and communist to end the brutal exploitative system of Capitalism on our continent and the world. A compatriot committed to a just and peaceful world is no more! A visionary committed to Africa's development, free from the shackles of the imperialist and colonial powers is no longer with us.
Behind he has left us ideas and an exemplary way to continue the road he so dedicatedly travelled. In his honour and memory, we have to strengthen working class and left co-ordination in Africa and the world as a whole. In his honour we must stand firm and resist imperial interventions in our countries and imposition of puppet leaders. In his memory, the people of Africa must rise and build Socialism.
Our revolutionary heartfelt condolences to the people of Sudan, to the leadership of the Communist Party of Sudan, to his entire family and his loved ones! The mortal remains of this giant must serve as an inspiration to all of us to build an alternative and humane society.
