*SACTWU Media Release, 10 July 2012* *Carpet Textiles Sub-Sector Workers to get 7% Wage Increase*The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) announces that it has reached another recommended wage settlement.
Workers in the Carpets textiles sub-sector are being offered a 7% wage increase for this year.
The recommended settlement was concluded after a wage conciliation meeting yesterday, after the union had earlier declared a national dispute when normal wage negotiation meetings did not yield an agreement.
The recommended settlement has been developed with the Carpet Manufacturers Association (the employer body for this textiles sub-sector), under the dispute procedural provisions of the National Textile Bargaining Council (NTBC).
The increases are to be backdated to 1 July this year and will be nationally applicable to all workers in the carpet manufacturing sub-sector of the textile industry.
