YCL Announcement: Know your Neighbourhood Campaign activities
The YCLSA [uFasimba] in the province of Gauteng will this weekend on Sunday, 12
August 2012 take forward and participate in the Know your Neighbourhood
Campaign led by the Communist Party.
The following communities in Mid-Vaal will be covered during the campaign on
Sunday, 12 August 2012, starting from 9:00 AM in the listed order.

1. Silahliwe informal settlement, Ward 08
2. Lakeside Estate, Ward 06
3. Farm workers residential area, near Kliprivier
Ten families will receive donations of blankets and food parcels during the
campaign.
This year the campaign is launched during women’s month, August. It will
culminate into the lunch of the Communist Party’s annual Red October Campaign
under a new theme. TheKnow your Neighbourhood Campaign will also be launched at
the time when the vanguard of the working class, the Communist Party inclusive
of the YCLSA has expressed serious concerns about the state of the tripartite
alliance in Gauteng.
The campaign will use scientific methods to gather data in working class
communities for policy purposes. It will also be used to communicate factual
data about the challenges facing and achievements made by our democratic
government as led by President Jacob Zuma since 2009. We believe that this will
make a meaningful contribution in the assessment of our leadership.
Our message as the YCLSA shall include the fact that our alliance at the
national level is for the first time since 1996 performing functionally better
following the election of President Jacob Zuma in 2007 and the leadership
collective that he leads notwithstanding many challenges, old and new including
the New Tendency. This, we shall say, motivates us to work hard to build a
functional alliance in Gauteng and all its regions because in this province the
alliance leaves much to be desired. Our correctly held perspective as the YCLSA
is that the unity of the alliance in action – where it actually matters most –
is important if the national democratic revolution is to succeed.
As the YCLSA we shall dedicate our work in the campaign in memory of our former
National Secretary, the late comrade Ruth Heloise First and in honour of the
many other heroines of our national liberation and socialist struggles. Comrade
Ruth was brutally killed by a letter bomb this month on the 17th in 1982 by the
apartheid regime, which Mr FW de Klerk is the last president.
