My view is that the defening silence is very unusual as statements usually fly from all directions condemning or condowning an event. I think it is good that these two unions are taking a stand even if its late in the process. I am also not sure why manamela's visit to marikana was cancelled when the intention to undertake it was made and was really necessary. Now malema is the hero not just in the eyes of miners in marikana but to many people across the country when his intentions in regard to the call for nationalisation are clearly not really intertwined with the real interests of the miners and working class i general. I also think that there is a lot that we dont know and asking questions is the only way to find out. So can some one explain why this defening silence? Or is injury to one not injury to all? Or is it because workers involved mostly are from a different union outside the alliance?
