However, as we do such, we should be aware of the blackmailing tactics that have emerged and being used from her side. So, my question is: who deserves more of our sympathy? You tell me! How can you, in the name of COSATU, abandon the worker in favour of the employer? Why would you, as a brother, forget your sister? There is no hiding place. "Hic Rhodus, his salta!" Let's not kick a man when he's down! This is not a political issue that cde Vavi is faced with, but personal and sensitive! Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom - let your email find you! I have had my say and I didn't keep my head down waiting for somebody else to give me cover. Now I am looking to see what different people are going to say about this. Like, say, Hajira Omarjee, for example? Tomorrow there will be the Sunday papers, and there will be the YCLSA rally. There is no place to hide on this. Office romances are common, although problematic and usually unwise. Adultery is also not a crime, even if it hurts people, You can have all that. What is crucial here is none of those, but it is that the senior person involved was the big boss of the organisation, the one who hires and fires, and who has admitted having sexual intercourse with this employee in the business premises. This is an impossible situation. What was this woman supposed to do? How was she going to reject the man, unless she was ready to lose her job? This powerful man thinks that people are only nice to him because they like him. COSATU is not just any organisation, by the way. It is supposed to defend employees. It is supposed to defend women. The General Secretary is supposed to, and claims to, represent two million workers, a large proportion of whom are women. There are no comparable cases to this. There are no excuses that can make this tolerable.
