I have silently followed the argument regarding the matter of rape allegations (withdrawn) that were levelled against the GS of COSATU.
My wondering mind tells me that we are discussing a non-issue. The case was withdrawn (simply mean there's no case). The GS has given his version of the case with supporting documents prior to the case being withdrawn and there was no dispute of the evidence brought forward by the GS. COSATU is not a political party but a trade union federation in alliance with political parties (ANC&SACP). What happened to SWP is highly unlikely to happen in COSATU. No matter how hard the VC tries to make an issue out of dis, there's no issue at all. Our president won a "rape" case in court. I say "rape" because it was proven that in fact it wasn't rape at all. He is currently presiding over one of rapid developing economies in the world. Thus allegations of rape that are/were never reported in law enforcement agencies but to work places after trying to solicit a "mum-fund" cannot be entertained in a constitutional democracy. I therefore subscribe to the view articulated by other students of this CU that the VC has personal hatred for the GS and will try to use this platform to extend his hatred to many of us. I, like others, resist to be influenced with baseless arguments that suggest to find the GS guilty of "rape". Equally, no document of COSATU warrants a DC for the GS to be tried based on the venue of where the consensual encounter took place. Thus, preempting the outcome of a DC that will never take place is a waste of mental energy. Let's focus on the forthcoming elections and resist to engage the VC on a non-issue. I pause...
