*_Answer_:* The alleged rapist in the case that has destroyed the
"Socialist Workers Party".
What was the "Socialist Workers Party"?
*_Answer_:* The SWP was the largest of the anti-communist "left"
organisations in the UK, roughly corresponding in SA to the politics of
Terry Bell, Martin Jansen, Patrick Bond, Moses Mayekiso (until he joined
COPE), Irvin Jim, Julius Malema, Floyd Shivambu and "WASP". Its slogan
is "socialism from below".
So what?
*_Answer_:* The rape allegation was made by a young woman against a
"senior party official" ("Comrade Delta"). Instead of taking it to the
courts of law, the SWP decided to deal with it in a "Disputes Committee"
(DC). The DC decided that no rape had taken place.
And then?
*_Answer_:* Then the SWP started falling apart. The credibility of the
DC was small because it consisted of friends of "Comrade Delta", the
"senior party official".
The DC had no experience or procedure adequate to dealing with a rape case.
Both female and male party members in numbers expressed outrage and
began to object, and then to resign.
