Statement, 6 August 2013 NW ANC Women's League Condemns the Rape and Killing of a 15 Year Old Girl The North West African National Congress Women's League condemns in the strongest terms the brutal rape and killing of Mmanane Mainamo, a 15 year old girl from Ottosdaal, in the Ngaka Modiri Molema district. Mmanane was sent by her parents to fetch blankets at Irag - a nearby settlement in Ottosdaal, on Saturday, 3rd August 2013. She was found dead at a cemetery inside a grave the following day, Sunday, 4 August 2013. The ANC WL calls upon the Ottosdaal community and anyone with information on this senseless killing of Mmanane to report this matter to law enforcement agencies. The ANC WL is taken aback by this barbaric act, committed during the month in which the North West province and all South Africans are celebrating women month. We call upon all South Africans to fight against the perpetrators of these criminal acts against our kids, sisters and mothers. The law must take its course so that all these perpetrators must be locked up for long. We remain committed and unshaken on the implementation of our Provincial Conference resolutions to launch an Awareness Campaign, this month, 18 August 2013, to protest against Women and Child Abuse. We send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of the bereaved daughter of the soil.
