YCLSA Press Statement September 26, 2013 YCLSA is saddened by the passing away of Cde Tshepo "Commissar" Semudi The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] has learned with shock the passing away of Cde Tshepo "Commissar" Semudi.
Cde Semudi was the Political Education officer based at the head office of the South African Communist Party (SACP). This is a very important role as he was tasked with the inculcation of Marxist-Leninist theory to the membership of the SACP. He was also a District Executive Committee Member of the SACP in the Linda Jabane District (Greater Johannesburg). He will forever be remembered for his poem which he used to perform at SACP events titled "Tigers who grass in the absence of meat". He was a very profound poet who could use the art of poetry to teach Marxist-Leninist theory Cde Semudi was a member of the military wing of our glorious national liberation movement UMkhonto WeSizwe. His selflessness prompted him to skip the country to receive military training in order to drive the oppressive apartheid regime to its demise. Che Guevara said "I don't care if I fall, just as long as my comrades pick up the gun and continue shooting". We appeal to all members of the YCLSA to pick up Cde Semudi's gun and continue shooting. We have to continue the fight against the triple contradictions of legacy of national oppression, gender domination, and class exploitation which results in and reproduces inequality, unemployment and poverty. We send our deepest condolences to his family, his comrades and his friends.
