SACP, 28 December 2013 Our sincere condolences on the passing of General Lehlohonolo Moloi The South African Communist Party (SACP) joins the people of South Africa, our national liberation and mass democratic movement in expressing our sincere condolences to the family, friends and comrades of General Lehlohonolo Moloi, comrade A as he was known within the ranks of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the people's liberation army. Comrade A, former Chief of Service Corps and retired Lieutenant General, died on Monday. An internationalist, comrade A joined the South African liberation struggle, and motivated by the highest form of revolutionary development he joined the military pillar of our struggle through the MK. A member of the SACP, he had to leave the country for exile, at same time with comrade Eric 'Stalin' Mtshali in pursuit of the South African freedom, and was among the first to arrive in Lesotho in 1972. He worked very closely with and almost served as military Siamese twin to our former General Secretary comrade Chris Hani, together with whom and other revolutionary combatants constituted the Luthuli Detachment, one of the finest MK detachments. Cde A later became MK Chief of Operations and was involved in polico-military combat missions in Southern Africa against the apartheid regime and its campaigns in neighbouring countries. He launched some of the daring attacks against this minority supremacist government of the National Party. Comrade A was also responsible for the deployment of MK combatants within the exile military headquarters of the ANC/SACP-MK. Upon return from exile and following the defeat of the apartheid regime in 1994 General Moloi formed part of the first integrated South African National Defence Force leadership. The SACP wishes to also take this opportunity to express sincere solidarity with the African National Congress and the MK, which he served with distinction and a high degree of loyalty.
