"Condemn me, it does not matter. History will absolve me". These words are attributed to a young lawyer called Fidel Castro who was defending in his court case after they were accused of attacking the Moncada base in Cuba.
On the 26th July 1953 with about 123 fighters he led an attack against Moncada base. This was against Batista who ascendancy was assisted by communist and he ended learning towards the West and allowing dominance of Cuban economy by USA and Western companies. What intrigues me is what lessons can be drawn from the transformation of the 26 of July Movement (M-26-7) into a fully fledged communist Party within seven years and the resilience of these comrades both in the court and in battle.
