DA, Agang SA to merge? News24, Cape Town, 27 January 2014 Rumours are rife that the Democratic Alliance and Agang SA will announce on Tuesday that they are merging. Helen Zille, the DA leader, tried in 2012 to convince Mamphela Ramphele to join the party, but she launched Agang SA instead in February last year. Business Day reported on Monday that speculation was rife that Ramphele would become the DA's candidate for Gauteng premier. It said national DA spokesperson Mmusi Maimane, who had been elected to head Gauteng, was expected to move to Parliament. Agang spokesperson Thabo Leshilo referred eNCA to a statement on its website, in which the party said there would be all sorts of suggestions and rumours in the media. "Do not read any truth into them," the statement said. The statement said Agang made no secret of the fact that it was talking to other parties. "We make no secret of the fact that all parties and citizens need to stand together against the ANC and those who want to use our resources to fund their own egos and lifestyles." City Press reported on Sunday that Ramphele had been in secret talks with the DA again about possible co-operation between the two parties. - News24 From: http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/Politics/DA-Agang-SA-to-merge-20140127 -- -- You are subscribed.
