MKMVA Congratulates its chairperson and SANMVA President, Kebby Maphatsoe on
his appointment as Deputy Minister
Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) congratulates its
National Chairperson c and President of South African National Military
Veterans Association, Cde Kebby Maphatsoe his appointment as the Deputy a
Minister of Defence and Military Veterans by His Excellency, President Jacob
Gedleyihlekisa Zuma to advance and deepen service delivery and
transformation of military veterans lives.
It has been a long and arduous journey that we have travelled as organized
Commissars and Commanders of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the former military wing of
the African National Congress fighting for expression within structures of
the African National Congress and the ANC led government. Our issues were
the most neglected as military veterans and some of our aspirations were
long declined due to the conditions we found ourselves in, especially prior
the watershed 52nd National Conference of the ANC held in Polokwane.
The 3rd National Conference of MKMVA that elected Cde Kebby Maphatsoe as
National Chairperson and Cde Ayanda Dlodlo as General Secretary set in
motion the process of transforming military veterans lives and the landscape
of raising their issues. SANMVA was formed and Cde Kebby Maphatsoe was
elected as the President after the ANC 52nd National Conference had resolved
that a formation of South African National Military Veterans Association
(SANMVA) was necessary and urgent.
Cde Kebby Maphatsoe has driven and contributed immensely in the processes
that changed the military veterans landscape being at the helm as National
Chairperson of MKMVA and President of SANMVA. Through his leadership a
Ministerial Task Team was put in place and The Military Veterans Act was
enacted, and a Department of Military Veterans was established to deal with
Military Veterans affairs and serve as a delivery point to military
veterans.
We thank the ANC for its deployment of Comrade Jacob Zuma as Patron in Chief
of Military Veterans for his visionary leadership and commitment to change
the lives of military Veterans. We have a President that understand issues
of our people, and military veterans in particular who managed to listen
when we said we fought for freedom and MK members must be given a chance to
be in the frontline in Defence of our hard fought gains by ensuring
deployment of MK veterans to address military veterans issues. The President
heeded our call that "nothing about us, without us" and we are proud one of
our own currently serving is at the helm to address our issues.
We further congratulate all other former members of Umkhonto we Sizwe
deployed in different portfolios including our former General Secretary,
Comrade Ayanda Dlodlo deployed as Deputy Minister of Public Service and
Administration.
We commit to continue with revolutionary maximum vigilance on those who are
hellbent to destabilize the ANC from within and promise them that we are
watching them like an eagle encircling its prey. The ANC remains the hope of
our people and the only organisation capable of transforming South Africa
with the necessary confidence of our people as displayed in the elections
when they gave us mandate to continue leading them.
Yinde lendlela esihambayo.
Mazilunge izinto zamaCommander mazilunge.
