South African Communist Party Central Committee SACP Central Committee underway: Press Conference Tomorrow, 1 June 2014 (12h30 PM) Saturday, 31 May 2014 - Johannesburg The South African Communist Party's (SACP's) Central Committee underway in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, is proceeding successfully. The Central Committee is the highest decision-making body of the Party in between National Congresses which convene once every five years. The Central Committee meets once quarterly to assess the Party Programme, focused on the National Democratic Revolution and the Struggle for Socialism, analyse new national and international developments, and where necessary, adopt new policy positions to guide the work of Party organisation, its leaders and members in all the key sites of power and struggle, namely, the State, Community, Economy, Workplace, Ideas, International, and Environment. Since yesterday when its Plenary Session started at 10h00 AM the Central Committee has been engaged in a Political Session reflecting on developments in all of the above-mentioned sites of struggle and power, and the tasks facing the Communist Party. Because of the workload, both national and international, the Political Session was extended and will close at 12h00 this afternoon, paving the way with political policy perspectives adopted to provide guidance to the Organisational Session, which is scheduled to start at 12h00 PM today and end tomorrow at 12h15 PM. The Organisational Session will focus on organisation as the most important centre of power guided by the dictum: Without organisation there can be no revolution. This will not only focus on the SACP, but on our entire Alliance and Mass Democratic Movement. Forward to the second, more radical phase of our transition! Forward to Socialism!
