South African Communist Party, Western Cape Province, 2 July 2014 Killing of three policemen outrageous The SACP in the Western Cape sends heartfelt condolences to the families of the three Police Officers who have been killed by criminals. The SACP in the Western Cape is outraged by these heinous killings, which occurred just in less than 24 hours. Following the gunning down of two policemen in Nyanga and one in Mfuleni, it is clear that these ruthless criminals are a danger to our society. Thus, Police Officers are civic servants who have a responsibility in maintaining peace and stability in our communities. Therefore anyone who kills Police Officers is an enemy of the state and the community. We call on POPRCU as organised labour formation to intensify anti-crime and sector campaigning and confront the problem of police killings. It is the responsibility of the police to protect the community from criminals, however, it is also the responsibility of the community to protect and defend the police. Ever since the abandoning of neighbourhood watches by the current government of the Western Cape under the DA, crimes such as these happen frequently and community members have taken a back sit. We call upon to the community of the Western Cape to assist in ensuring that these ruthless criminals are brought to book.
