Vavi 'Can't answer directly' if he'd follow NUMSA Stephen Grootes, Eyewitness News, Johannesburg, 24 October 2014 Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says he can't answer direct questions about whether he would leave the federation if the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) was expelled. Last night, COSATU's Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting adjourned, after preparing to vote on whether to expel the metalworkers union. It will now meet again next month. Vavi appeared to hesitate when asked if his own future could follow that of NUMSA. "It's very difficult to say that. I don't want to make pre-emptive statements.
