SADTU's Interdict

SADTU interdicts organisers of an illegal Eastern Cape Shop Stewards Council
meeting from using its name and logo

The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) has obtained a court
order to prevent the organizers of an illegal provincial Shop Stewards
Council to be held in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, tomorrow (Saturday 25 April
2015) from using the Union's logo and name.

Today, SADTU applied for an interdict against Fezile Siziba, Zeporah Poti,
Ian Vuyani Singeni, Mandisa Mvoko, Mncekeleli Ndongeni, Thingazwa Mhlaba and
Lamla Tini at the Eastern Cape High Court in Bisho.

The order interdicts Mvoko, Ndongeni and Tini from using SADTU's logo and
name in any manner at all during the gathering scheduled for 25 April, 2015
or in any event or proceedings leading up to the said gathering to take
place at Mdantsane Sports Ground. Mvoko and Ndongeni are members of the
SADTU Eastern Cape Provincial Working Committee that was dissolved in
February this year. The National Executive Committee of SADTU put in place
a Provincial Task Team to carry out administrative and organizational duties
on its behalf until the Province is ready for its congress. This therefore,
means Ndongeni and Mvoko have no authority. Tini is the secretary of the
Vuyani Xaluva branch. He allegedly booked the Mdantsane sports centre and is
part of the organizers.

The order further directs the three or any person who derives his or her
right, title and interest from them to refrain from using SADTU name or logo
on posters or any other medium without first obtaining a written consent,
authorization or approval from the Union.

The court has given authority to the Union to remove all posters with the
SADTU logo in respect to the illegal Provincial Shop Stewards Council to be
held on Saturday, 25 April, 2015.

This illegal Shop Stewards Council is part of former COSATU General
Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi and NUMSA's plan to revive themselves in the
Eastern Cape using our name. We urge all the members of SADTU to resist
being addressed by him.

When he was caught fornicating in COSATU offices, during office hours, he
disguised and portrayed himself as a victim of political assassination while
knowing very well that he had ulterior motives. How can this act be regarded
as political assassination when he left his luxurious office on the ninth
floor to the third floor to have sex standing for two minutes with a junior
staff member during office hours? How can this be a political assassination
when he galloped six floors down to have sex for two minutes standing and
later ridiculed the junior staff member by calling her "nopatazana" loosely
translated as slut. He has elevated himself to the level of being COSATU and
when looks at himself in the mirror every morning, he sees COSATU instead of
Vavi. His self importance and popstarism must never mislead the members
because he has betrayed the workers of this country. He is not COSATU and he
will never be COSATU. The shenanigans of organizing illegal provincial shop
stewards councils must stop using COSATU and SADTU names. If Vavi is such a
moralist and messiah of the working class why is he appearing in posters
bearing the COSATU logo?

SADTU will, decisively and without any hesitation, act against anyone
abusing its name and logo for their personal agendas to destabilize people's
Federation COSATU. SADTU abhors the 'bantustan' mentality displayed by some
of the disbanded provincial working committee members and some branches.
SADTU will never allow tribalism within its ranks.

SADTU further distances itself from despicable conduct displayed in the
SACSE event by those calling themselves super-revolutionaries in the name of
SADTU. Those who disrupted children's events have defined themselves outside
the organization and are a disgrace to the teaching profession. They have
demonstrated their lack of understanding of the revolution. No revolution
can destroy the future of children who have nothing to do with SADTU's
internal challenges.

SADTU further distances itself from the unlawful march by the same group
calling itself SADTU to the Eastern Cape's Department of Education offices
demanding that subscriptions to the Union be stopped and paid to the account
of their choice. This is not a banana republic where there are no laws. They
are not going to fund their new pseudo union with SADTU members'
contributions. No amount of thuggery and hooliganism will deter the course
of our members.

We urge all SADTU members not to complete the petition circulated in
branches and sites, under the pretext of looking after the members interest,
as this is an act of thuggery with an intent to steal members' contributions
for the purposes of funding their pseudo union and maintaining their
lifestyle as they can no longer abuse SADTU's resources.

SADTU will not allow Vavi and his surrogates to use the Union to further
their agenda to undermine COSATU.

The Union will do all in its might to protect its integrity and dignity and
that of the Federation.
