YCLSA Media Alert, 25 May 2015 YCLSA launches "Read to Lead" campaign on Africa Day The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] has chosen Africa Day to launch its "Read to Lead" campaign this morning in Kagiso, in the West Rand. We have chosen Africa Day to launch this campaign because Africa has the highest rate of illiteracy in the world, 25% of who people who can't read or write live in the African continent. It is for these reasons that we are declaring war on illiteracy and encouraging all South Africans to read. We want to make education fashionable and promote a culture of reading amongst young people. In launching the campaign we will be donating a mobile science lab to Thuto Pele High School in Kagiso, in the West Rand. This school received good grades last year in sciences without a science lab. With the lab we will be donating we hope they will do better this year and inspire other schools to follow suit. Details of the launch: . Date: Monday May 25, 2015 . Time: 07h30 . Venue: Thuto Pele High School, Kagiso, West Rand The launch will be addressed by both the National Secretary of the YCLSA Cde Mluleki Dlelanga and the National Chairperson Cde Yershen Pillay. Members of the media are invited to attend and to cover the event.
