NIHSS and Liliesleaf Trust host a Historic Colloquium

The National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) in
collaboration with Liliesleaf Trust will host a historic Colloquium to
commemorate South Africa's 21 years of democracy and the 60th anniversary of
the adoption of the Freedom Charter. Due to the enormity of the
Commemorative subject matters, the Colloquium will be hosted for two days to
allow sufficient engagements.

The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Higher Education
and Training, Dr. Blade Nzimande. There will be panel presentations and
discussions; a gala dinner with a key note address by the NIHSS Board
Chairperson.

The event will provide an opportunity to reflect and dialogue on the
following areas:

. The history and legacy of South Africa's liberation struggle.

. The historical trajectory of knowledge production and activism in pre,
ante and post-apartheid periods.

. South Africa's transition to democracy and the post-apartheid project
of collective memory construction.

. The archiving and dissemination of the diverse narratives of struggle
that shape our democracy.

The event will take place as follows:

. Date: 25 - 26 June 2015

. Time: 09h00-16h00 (two days)

. Venue: Liliesleaf Farm, Rivonia, Johannesburg
