COSATU Gauteng, 29 July 2015 COSATU Gauteng to convene 12th Provincial Congress 4 - 6 August 2015 at Standard Bank Arena, Johannesburg The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Gauteng will be convening its 12th Provincial Congress under the Theme "Rebuilding and Repositioning COSATU to Advance its Unity and Cohesion in Defence of the Working Class" The 12th Provincial Congress will be convened as follows: . Date: 4 - 6 August 2015 . Time: 09h30 to 17h00 . Venue: Standard Bank Arena, Johannesburg The Congress will be addressed by number of speakers from the Alliance partners and the COSATU National Office Bearers on the first day. The Congress will also receive the messages of support and solidarity from the Ambassador's of Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine. The Congress on the second day will also receive an address by the Gauteng Premier on the work and challenges in Government. The Congress will further receive reports on the work that has been undertaken by the Provincial Executive Committee since 2012 which will be around the international campaigns and the international balance of forces. The Congress will also consider the political development in the country and in the province over the past three years and what are the current challenges facing the democratic and progressive forces in the country. The Congress scheduled to receive and discuss the socio-economic conditions facing the working class and the poor and developments over the period under review. The Congress will receive a report on the state of the organization in the province and how the province has been navigating through the process and challenges that had been facing the union. The Gauteng Provincial Congress is also expected to elect new Provincial Office Bearers for the next three year's period. All members of the media will be required to have accreditation in order for them to be able to gain access to the Congress Venue.
