New Age2.png Malema trial to begin again Montsho Matlala, The New Age, Johannesburg, 30 July 2015 Limpopo police say they will step up security in Polokwane from Sunday evening, ahead of the money laundering trial of EFF leader Julius Malema in the Polokwane High Court on Monday next week. Provincial police spokesperson Col Ronel Otto said that security would be tight at Jack Botes Hall in the city from 6pm in the evening at the start of the night vigil by hundreds of Malema supporters, who will march to court on Monday. Otto has also advised members of the public to be cooperative, as some streets ,especially around the court building would be closed from Sunday evening until further notice. Police, together with private security officers, would maintain tight control at the court entrance to ensure limited access. "No dangerous weapons such as firearms, knives, pangas or knobkerries would be allowed onto the court premises or surrounding areas," Otto said. Police will also stage patrols in identified areas at the nearby Seshego township (Malema's home town) to ensure peace and stability. "No lawlessness will be tolerated and those who break the law will be arrested immediately," police warned. Police have shown a strong presence and closed access to some streets in Polokwane since 2012, each time Malema and four co-accused have appeared in court on money laundering charges, involving R52m in government tenders.
