South African Communist Party Eastern Cape, 21 September 2015 PWC Press statement: The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape convened a Provincial Working Committee (PWC) meeting at Matatiele, Alfred Nzo District on the 19 - 20 September 2015. The first day of the PWC meeting was spent interacting with the branches of the party in Matatiele as part of the PWC work to service SACP structures within the context of the SACP membership month. The PWC satisfied itself with the state of our party in the sub-district, appreciated the strong presence and activism of our party. The meeting received and discussed comprehensive political and organisational report in preparation of the PEC meeting. Both reports assisted the PWC meeting to deliberate on the political and ideological outlook of our province, country and the world. International: The meeting congratulated the election of Jeremy Corbyn as the leader of the British Labour Party. His election in our view will create a progressive British Labour Party. The comeback of the labour party in power after 30 years can be a progressive development to weaken US hegemony in the world affairs. The PWC noted what is termed as the refugee crisis in some parts of the world, in particular in Europe. We are convinced that the term "Refugee Crisis" is a mischaracterisation of the crisis. The crisis is that of US led imperialism that continues to plunge humanity into misery. The crisis represents the manifestation of the imperialist crisis. The flooding of other countries is an attempt by the US Imperialism to flood other countries with people so that they can drain their resources, which may lead to people fighting each other. That is done so that the US and its allies can intervene with their regime change agenda. The PWC expressed that there should be state sovereignty and allow countries to resolve their challenges through peaceful means. National: The PWC expressed its concern on the increasing financialization and factionalisation of our organisations for personal gains. The factional, corrupt and corporate capture of our movement which amongst other things includes the financialization and factionalisation of organisational processes, the use of money to buy votes, objectification of young and vulnerable comrades, stifle internal democratic processes and isolate the alliance and its partners. It is disheartening to note that the tendency is continuing at an increasing velocity even after the alliance summit which correctly condemn it. The new subculture if goes unabated will render our movement useless and turned into a ladder towards the personal upward social mobility. It is in this context that activists of the movement must unite and defeat these tendencies and claim their movement, for it is their heritage. The SACP will continue to engage with other alliance components internally and intensify the fight against the attempts at factional, corrupt and corporate capture of our movement regardless who is involved in such divisive and counterrevolutionary activities. We also expressed great concern on what appears to be our government gravitating towards a tender state that is manipulated by powerful corrupt tenderpreneurs. The proximity of the tenderpreneurs to the leadership of both government and structures of the movement represent a serious threat to the progress of our people. Provincial: We appreciate the work that is being done by Danny Jordaan, Mayor of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality in stabilizing the metro. His relative good work will help restore the confidence of the people in both the ANC and the municipality. The turnaround of the institution should be used by the people as one of the reason to reject the apartheid second coming led by Athol Trollip in the coming local government elections. We are concerned by the continuous inconsistencies in the interventions in the municipalities, in particular those that were identified as hot spots by the alliance. These inconsistencies appear as some political protection of corrupt elements. The SACP will campaign in every corner of the province for our long standing ally, the African National Congress (ANC) in the upcoming local government elections.
