Beirut, Baghdad:

Seven Syrians, Two Lebanese Arrested

The Morning Star, London, 16 November 2015

Lebanese authorities have arrested seven Syrians and two Lebanese suspected
of involvement in the weekend of terror attacks.

Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk announced the arrests yesterday, three days
after a double suicide attack - claimed by Islamic State (Isis) - in the
southern Beirut district of Burj al-Barajneh killed 43 people and wounded
more than 230.

Mr Machnouk said the attackers had been planning to strike the nearby Rasoul
al-Aazm hospital, where the wounded were taken, but changed their target to
a busy street because of tight security there.

Isis also claimed responsibility for two blasts in Baghdad on Friday which
killed a total of 26 people and wounded dozens.

The suicide bomber struck a memorial service held for a militia fighter
killed in battle against Isis in the Iraqi capital's southwestern suburb of
Hay al-Amal, killing 21 and wounding 46.

Another bomb detonated at a shrine in Sadr City, killing at five people and
wounding 15.
