Agreement between Parliament and NEHAWU

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip welcomes the resolution of the labour
dispute between the management of Parliament and NEHAWU, which would see
Parliament staff reporting back to work tomorrow after being on strike since
last week.

We commend both parties in the dispute for thrashing out their differences,
thereby ensuring that the ability of Parliament to effectively discharge its
duties is not unduly hampered.

We are confident that the same spirit of mature and meaningful engagement
will characterise the discussion on the modalities around the implementation
of the agreement.

We are confident that the two parties will now refocus their energies on
strengthening relations and ensuring that this institution continues to
efficiently serve the people of South Africa.
