Speaking at the Guild Theatre in East London on Monday, Vavi said the federation, which will be launched on Workers' Day, will be made up of workers in the mining and metal industries. He said he had held several talks with the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU). He said discussions with other stakeholders regarding the formation of the federation were continuing. "We will make an announcement about our plans next week," he said. "I have not been sleeping well, working hard and thinking about strategies." Though Vavi said every sector was welcome in the soon-to-be-launched federation, he told the audience that workers in the mining and metal industry would swell the ranks of the new federation.
