SA Coat of Arms 4.jpg Media Statement, 5 April 2016 President Zuma Appoints an Interministerial Committee on June 16 Celebrations President Jacob Zuma has appointed an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Soweto Student Uprising. This year marks 40 years since the landmark June 16 Student Uprising in Soweto, Johannesburg, which had a significant impact on the course of the liberation struggle and attainment of freedom and democracy in 1994. The IMC will ensure the planning and success of this momentous occasion.
