What has corroded the strength of Political Education?

The ANC in last conference, resolved on the question of Political
education, this include SACP and COSATU as well.

ANC and SACP has its basic units in their constitutions in branches, but
Brigades and elections teams have liquidated the power of these units, as
the epicentre of lifeblood of the movements, where things start and end.

The quorating of some of these branches is now an issue, some branches must
meeting 3 to 5 hours beyond a scheduled times to quorate, at times these
meeting must be reconvened.

The lasted situation in Tshwane, is a manifestation of the type of branches
we now have, and the political leadership level we have, as well. The
sporadic protests we have all witnessed and now accustomed to them, is a
mirror reflection of the Political Education of the leadership at the
branch level, as the basic units, of that particular area or sphere.

COSATU (as a robust and a shield for workers through campaigning) as well
is not innocent, and with locals as a mirror of functionality of COSATU
affiliates in various workplaces, has been confronted much more as the
imperialist agenda of depoliticizing the workforce by extension the union
leadership too, this has added impetus, while the imperialist enjoy the
fair share of the slice, with retrenchments, downsizing and looting of
profits to invest elsewhere (seeking maximum profit at the expense of
workers). The buying and selling of companies now has been made much
simpler and easier, while on one hand workers’ rights have been shrinking
much more, and without political education the power to win this war remain
elusive dream.

*During the Cuito Cuanavale war....this is what Jorge Risquet said to Pik
Botha*

*"...and when Pik Botha voiced the South African demands, Jorge Risquet,
who headed the Cuban delegation, fell on him like a ton of bricks: “The
time for your military adventures, for the acts of aggression that you have
pursued with impunity, for your massacres of refugees ... is over.” South
Africa, he said, was acting as though it was “a victorious army, rather
than what it really is: a defeated aggressor that is withdrawing ... South
Africa must face the fact that it will not obtain at the negotiating table
what it could not achieve on the battlefield.”[4]"*

It is upon us all to go back to the basics, decentralize political
education, and make it cool and fashionable to be part of the Political
Education, including CU.

Political Education can’t be one person delivering a lecturer (irrespective
of the status of such a person), then ask (handful) of few questions and
then call that a Political Education- lecturer, without unpacking or being
robust, frank to one another.
