Hi, You can now trade del.icio.us experts on CollaborativeRank. This is like the link exchange idea I mentioned before, but you get to exchange del.icio.us experts rather than links.
The del.icio.us experts you collect (both manually and through trades) can be used to personalize your search results. You can even override the default importance given to experts on various topics to customize your search rankings even further. To get started: (1) register on CollaborativeRank: http://collabrank.web.cse.unsw.edu.au/del.icio.us/?cmd=register Note that your CollaborativeRank account is completely separate from your del.icio.us account. In fact, you don't even need to use the same name. (2) when you log in to your CollaborativeRank account, you will notice the following additions for trading del.icio.us experts and personalizing search rankings: * My Inbox * My Trades * My Rejections * My Experts (3) please read the online help given for each of those four items Basically, you get "trade proposals" in your inbox from CollaborativeRank users. A trade proposal shows you the user's name and tag. You can accept or reject a trade proposal. If you reject a trade proposal, then it will go into your rejections list and no trade of experts will be done. If you accept a trade proposal, then a trade may occur depending on whether that user also accepts the trade proposal. Note that users do not initiate trade proposals. Rather, they are automatically initiated by the system whenever it appears that two users may benefit from an exchange of experts. In order to have the system initiate trade proposals on your behalf, you will first need to at least one expert on some topic (without trading). To do this, you can perform a search to find some experts of interest and click on them to get to their main page. You can then add that expert to your collection for one or more tags in the search query. For example, you might search for "del.icio.us" and click on expert "atul". You could then click on "add" to add atul as an expert on del.icio.us. At this point, the system will automatically propose expert trades on your behalf to CollaborativeRank users who appear interested in del.icio.us yet are missing one or more of your experts on del.icio.us. So check your inbox for trade proposals. If you get nothing, try again a bit later. Now, to perform a personalized search using your experts, simply type in something like this: query words for:your_collaborativerank_name Note that for: no longer works with del.icio.us user names. To get things started, I have some experts on tags "social", "search", and "del.icio.us". So you might try adding experts of your own on those topics to get the system to initiate trade proposals with me and other users. Let me know how it goes. Any feedback would be welcome.
